Purchasing goods online can be a great convenience, saving time & petrol pollution in the process.

The ability to shop in the comfort of your own home without the pressure of crowds and salepersons can be a welcome change for many.

Short List of The Benefits
1) Convenience - shop when YOU want - open 24 hours 7 days a week!
2) Home delivery - lugging things back from the shop is rarely a joy....
3) Avoid driving - nobody likes parking lots in the heat or the rain expecially when it's crowded! - save petrol and reduce your pollution

You don't always need a credit card....
Many sites offer other options to FAX or PRINT order forms.

Many businesses will be more than happy to take orders over the phone during business hours.

To use a credit card or not?
Many people are still wary of using their credit cards to purchase goods over the internet.

Purchasing online is much the same as using your credit card over the phone.

In fact a "secure" internet transaction with 128bit encryption technology is safer than using the mail, the phone, or even handing your card over a counter.

You are more likely to have your card details stolen in the mail, tapped into on the phone, or even copied from sales receipts - than someone cracking the encryption code....

It basically comes down to the integrity of the online store you trust with your card details, and the technical skill and integrity of the IT company and merchant banks handling the transaction.

As a general rule one should never divulge CC information via an email or online form unless it is securely encrypted.

To tell if a form is secure - look for a little CLOSED LOCK or UN-BROKEN KEY symbol in the status bar of your browser.

While we have done our best to insure all shops listed in our directories are of top quality and reliability be sure to read our disclaimer and read the below tips for online shopping.

10 Things to Check Before Buying Online
1) KNOW THE BUSINESS
Know who the company is and their full street address.

2) KNOW THE PRODUCT
Check it has a valid guarantee, is legal, and will work in Australia. Goods or services you receive should match their description.

3) CHECK THE CONTRACT
Understand and print out any terms and condiitons. Check the due date and whether you need to be at home for the delivery.

4) CHECK THE COST
Look for extras like currency conversion charges, taxes, customs duties, delivery fees, packaging and posting. Note who pays for postage if the goods are returned.

5) CHECK FOR PRIVACY
Find out how your personal details will be used and decide whether you want them to be passed on to anyone else.

6) CONFIRM THE ORDER
You should be given the chance to confirm or reject your order before you pay for it.

7) KEEP RECORDS
Print out your order before you send it and note any reference numbers.

8) PAY SECURELY
Use sites your browser recognises as secure - look for an unbroken key or padlock at the bottom of your screen. Don't enter financial information that isn't needed for the sale.

9) RESOLVE ANY PROBLEMS
Contact the trader about any problem as soon as possible. If unresolved, contact the relevant industry dispute scheme or your local consumer affairs or fair trading agency.

10) LOOK OUT FOR SCAMS
If something seems "too good to be true" - it probably is.

Shops have head office locations displayed in their profiles so you can choose to shop locally, nationally, or internationally if you wish.

Shopping online is about convenience and saving time.

No more parking lots and bad weather.

If your time is valuable shopping online is the only way to go !
